Calmness of Mind

Each one of us has a God gifted brain. We must feel proud as humans as we are the most intelligent species of all animals.

We are ruling the whole world by our mind power; this ruling has both constructive as well as destructive implication towards this nature. What we understand is, all constructive cultivation of thoughts led to growth of this nature and oneself and all destructive cultivation of thoughts results in negativity or decline of our nature and humanity as a whole.

There is something in common for all growth related activities from the beginning of mankind. It is calmness of mind that dictates and has ability to think with a subconscious mind for the growth of humanity. Every development or invention for the masses may have come by an accident or have been unplanned but all of them are generally done by people who have some calmness of mind. What I mean to say is that all acts which have led to destruction for the growth of humanity and mankind are results of chaotic mind.

For the mind, Calmness is about stability, peace, focus, immunity, tolerance, patience, deep thinking, larger perspective and long-term thinking. It is just like if we have a calm river, for a long time it will be more stable. For shipping, it will have larger perspective and immunity against external factors. Similarly, if we are watching a river closely and listening to it from the coast, and if we find this to be stable it will make us feel calm and composed. But if at all there are lots of bubbles or wave disturbances, it will make us think lots of things at a time and will lead to instability, hence it will be difficult for us to be calm.

All of us are children of God; we have one life given to us by this Almighty Being. It is nothing but our choice which dictates whether we wish to be at the stable side or unstable side.

Greatest of all greats Sri Swami Vivekananda had narrated once that mind is like a flowing river. There will always be both stable and unstable mindsets i.e. if you have multiple thoughts at a time, it is unstable and if there is a single thought, it is stable. Just like a river if you see lots of bubbles, they are like various thoughts, they are disturbances. If you focus on a particular thought i.e. one particular bubble/wave, you will find that after a certain time it disappears. At this point of time this thought has transferred from your mind to your action and thus the river flows in its course.

As we can see, through focus, all the disturbances or bubbles in river can disappear irrespective of slope or terrain at any location. In a similar fashion, through focus on one single thought, we can control our mind under any circumstance at any moment of our life for cultivation of positive thoughts towards our life and thus growth of humanity.

We all have one life, time never waits. It is for us to decide before it is too late to show or manifest divinity within by doing an act of growth by controlling our mind.

So let us join our hands to have common goal to achieve growth of humanity as a whole through calmness of mind.
